The Polo Club de Veytay proposes initiations to people wanting to discover this sport, possibility to take groups or individuals.
The club also offers classes, as a group or individually, adapted to all levels. The class lasts 1 hour and takes place either in the Arena (a sand field) or on the grass field and covers the following points:
- Preparation/objective of the class
- Riding Polo style/Working the horse
- Movements/Swings (walking or cantering, depending on the level)
- Feedback
To be able to notice improvements we recommend no less than 1 class per week. The idea is to establish a program and realistic objectives over several months in order to make sure that the player progresses fast enough to be able to play a few little matches with other members of the Polo school. During these matches the different phases and rules of the game are explained in detail, in order to progress further and eventually be able to take part in official competitions.
Since its creation the club also puts emphasis on the formation of young players. Today we have a little less than an dozen young players between the age of 12 and 18 who meet at least once a week to play. They all have the possibility to show off what they learnt each year during the EFG Bank Junior Cup, which precedes the finale of the Jaeger-LeCoultre Polo Masters on the last weekend.
Teaching
Since a few years the classes have been taught by Simon Luginbühl, the Polo Manager of the Club. Currently handicap 3, he is Switzerland’s best player and can teach beginners as well as confirmed players. The classes can be given in French, English and Spanish.
Horse Rental
The club offers the possibility to rent horses for the duration of a chukker or entire matches.
