Great turnout at the 2014 JLC Polo Masters finals this past Sunday 31st of August - with around 5,000 spectators. Although the sunshine lacked a little in comparison to previous years, the level of play at the matches more than compensated.
The final, fought between Lynx Polo Team and Veytay Jaeger-LeCoultre, boasted relentless tension until the very last second. Lynx quickly put their foot in the door with a 3-0 lead by the end of the first chukker. Lynx’s strong start was countered by J LC, who successfully caught up on the scoreboard by the end of the 4th chukker. The final 2 minutes of regulatory play were uncannily tense, with both teams scoring one goal to match the other. One extra chukker was played to settle the tie. Lynx won the match 5 to 4 thanks to a brilliant golden goal by their number 3, Ignacio Kennedy.
In the match for 3rd place, Polo Park Zürich proved to be the stronger team, defeating VT Wealth management 6.5 to 4.
Sagittarius ends the tournament in 5th place, beating EFG 6 to 4.5.
Overall, the tournament has been a great success. Now in its 26th year, the tournament continues to produce quality Polo. Hospitality infrastructure also improves with every passing year. The sponsors and partners have indicated their satisfaction with the event and proposed to continue collaboratin in years to come. We hope to see you next year for the 2015 Jaeger-LeCoultre Polo Masters!
